Macquarie hires Morgan Stanley’s Tom Price as head of commodities research

Macquarie has hired Tom Price from Morgan Stanley as head of commodities research, according to people familiar with the matter.

Mr Price will start at the bank in early 2018, one person said.

The move comes after Colin Hamilton, the former head of commodities research, left Macquarie to join Canadian bank BMO Capital Markets last month.

Macquarie declined to comment.

The Australian bank has expanded its commodities business over the past few years as other banks have pulled back amid a downturn in the markets. In June, Macqaurie bought the North American power and gas business from grain trader Cargill.
